WEATHER TO PHOTOGRAPH AND WHAT
What and how to photograph in different conditions
Ann Miles FRPS EFIAP MPAGB FBPE
Rain, snow and mist ... first, this lecture with projected images and prints shows images depicting ‘perfect’ photographic weathers. But what do you do when the weather isn’t perfect for photography? Some suggestions are made of subjects and techniques to employ when the light is dull or when the sun shines too brightly.

A PASSION FOR NATURE
A pictorial photographer's view of European wildlife
Ann Miles FRPS EFIAP MPAGB FBPE
This talk with prints shows the Natural World from a pictorial photographer’s angle. Although there will be lots of close-up and sharp images of birds, insects, mammals and flowers, Ann will also include more atmospheric and abstract shots. Discover how the choice of background, aperture and lighting conditions can make all the difference in nature as with other types of photography

|
| About our speaker |
Ann Miles trained as a biologist and spent her working life in scientific publishing; this enabled her to keep abreast with all the changes from traditional to digital photography and printing. She has been an active photographer for the last 20 years and, for about 10 years, taught general and nature photography at university degree level. Ann is currently Secretary to The London Salon: a position that keeps her in touch with the best of pictorial photography around the world. She gained an RPS Associateship in Nature and a Fellowship in Visual Arts and is currently a member of The Society’s Visual Arts Panel. This reflects a wide spectrum of photographic interest. In her photography, she uses all the available digital techniques: camera, manipulation and printing to depict the interactions of people, architecture, nature and landscape. Ann lectures all round Britain and also gives workshops and individual tuition. See Ann's web site here. |

| About our speaker |
Patricia Jones has been taking photographs for about 25 years, and, within a month of buying her first camera, bought a colour enlarger, because right from the beginning she knew that she wanted to be in full control of producing her own prints. Entirely self-taught, she read magazines and books, and soon was printing in both monochrome and colour, About 7 years ago she decided it was time to test the digital water, facing another steep learning curve, and is now sponsored by Permajet. Patricia exhibits in both national and international exhibitions and has also held 7 personal exhibitions. In 2002 she gained her Fellowship of the RPS, and is currently President of the Kent County Photographic Association. FAMOUS FOR FIVE MINUTES
... or ten or fifteen!
A chance for all attendees (whether RPS/DIG members or not) to hold the attention of the meeting with whatever subject they think will interest the members in the Digital Imaging field. Perhaps showing some prints or projected images, talking about a special technique, or a project, or a new Photoshop plug-in, or your work towards a distinction (RPS and others), or ... it's up to you! No need for a prepared talk (unless you want to) - just come and take the floor for 5 - 15 minutes. We have several fascinating and varied presentations already lined up, but have room for more, so do think about what you could add to the mix! Let us know in advance if you can, or just tell us on the day.

MY PHOTOGRAPHIC ART
Brian Beaney FRPS
Brian takes his photography beyond the moment of capture. His images are digitally painted with light, mood and atmosphere to try to communicate the peace, tranquillity and 'buzz' he experienced when taking the shot. Sometimes, he says, the pleasure is just in using his imagination.
In this morning session, Brian will inspire us with a viewing of his stunning images, including those that made up his Fellowship panel, and talk to us about his approach to his very special style of photography.
